“Arts and the Sensual in Renewing Worship”
June 21 - 24, 2009 (students taking for credit must attend June 20 - 25)
Presentations examine the role the senses play in contributing to the lively experience of Spirit in worship, providing intellectual stimulation and practical insights, gathering resources and creating a fruitful space and time for reflection concerning the renewing of worship in local congregations. Throughout the sessions, leaders point to how worship can be aesthetically uplifting and prophetically challenging for faithful Christian witness in these times.
A day-long optional workshop stands as a prelude to the Institute proper (Saturday, June 20, 9:00am - 4:00 pm, at Old South Church in Boston). The Institute opens at 3 pm on Sunday, June 21, and concludes on Wednesday, June 24, with a festival worship service.
