Former Andover Newton President David Shannon Dies

Word has come to the school that this past Saturday morning Rev. Dr. David T. Shannon died. He had been ill and had open heart surgery two
weeks before, but never recovered. Shannon was the first African American president of Andover Newton, serving from 1991-1994. He and his
wife Averette had been married for 50 years.

A memorial service for Shannon will be held at the Friendship Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia at 11 AM Thursday, March 28th.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Dr. David T. Shannon Memorial Trust, PO Box 784, Lithonia, GA 30058. The fund will support
the education of applicants who seek to follow in David’s footsteps.
