Christian Wiman chosen as 2010 Jonathan Edwards Lecturer

Prize-winning poet, essayist, and editor Christian Wiman has been chosen to deliver the 2010 Jonathan Edwards Lecture on April 26 at 5:00 pm in Wilson Chapel on the Andover Newton campus. Wiman’s title will be “Poetry, Prayer, and the Limits of Devotion.”

Born and raised in West Texas, Christian Wiman is an award-winning poet and writer, praised for the “Biblical” power of his work, and the editor of Poetry magazine. Wiman’s poems and essays appear regularly in The New Yorker, The Atlantic Monthly, Harper’s, and The New York Times Book Review and have been collected in books, including Ambition and Survival: Becoming a Poet (2007).

The Jonathan Edwards Lecture, named in honor of the celebrated 18th-century American theologian, Jonathan Edwards, is given annually on the Andover Newton campus.

The lecture is always free and open to the public. Free parking is available.
