The Faculty of Theology of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium have invited Dr. S. Mark Heim, Samuel Abbot Professor of Christian Theology, to be the inaugural lecturer in a series titled “Religions and the Response to Human Suffering.” This lecture series marks the establishment of a new research group at the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium, one of the oldest and most distinguished universities in Europe. This research group, made up of professors and post-doctoral fellows, is dedicated to the theme of Christian Identity and Interreligious Dialogue.
Several years ago, a seminar at the University was dedicated to the study of Professor Heim’s book, The Depth of the Riches: A Trinitarian Theology of Religious Ends. The current lecture series was shaped in part around the impact of that book, and the university wanted Professor Heim to be the first speaker.
His lecture will be given at Leuven on March 6. During his visit he will also meet with faculty and lead a seminar for members of the research group.
