It gives me great pleasure to announce that Dr. Mark Heim, Andover Newton’s Samuel Abbot Professor of Christian Theology, has just been named as one of six professors from across the country as a 2009-2010 Henry Luce Fellow in Theology. Selected on the basis of the strength of his proposal to conduct creative and innovative theological research, Heim will engage in a year-long study of his own design focusing on Buddhist and Muslim insights on Atonement. This is the 16th class of scholars appointed since the program began in 1993. Mark’s appointment follows the previous appointments of Professors Fontaine and Burrows.
Please join me in extending congratulations to Mark for this fine recognition of his scholarship.
