Site Description

Common Street Community Church is a new church start that launched public worship Christmas Eve, 2012. We are affiliated with ABC and are ecumenical in our approach to ministry. Applicants from all denominations or without denominational labels are welcome. Our Mission: We are seeking to build a multicultural community of faith that is inclusive and accepting, rooted in Christian faith and open to our neighbor's faith. We are also starting a youth center and arts scene at the church, and are really involved with the life of the community, seeking justice, peace, equality. Our worship style is in the free church tradition with lots of congregation participation and spontaneity; Gospel, Folk, and Jazz being the principle music styles. For more info check our website: www.commonstreet.org or email ian@commonstreet.org to set up a time to talk.

Stipend Expectation

This site meets the stipend expectation

Student Involvement

The student will work with our pastor and a small committee to craft a ministry experience that is meaningful, exciting, and addresses the student's learning goals. We'll try to put together a work plan that is both stimulating and rewarding for the student and helpful to our new church. Students interested in starting a church are especially encouraged to apply.

Commitment to Educating Ministers

We are fully committed to educating ministers for the 21st century to build communities of faith that are relevant in our pluralistic context. We believe that the action/reflection model is very helpful for educating ministers. Being a new church start, we are especially suited to help in the formation of ministerial leaders who think outside the box and hope to start new churches.

Special Considerations

Student should be able to provide for his or her own transportation to and from our facility in Natick on Sunday mornings and other times he or she may be needed on-site.
