The Reverend Cody J. Sanders, Ph.D., is the pastor of Old Cambridge Baptist Church in Harvard Square. He earned the Ph.D. in pastoral theology and pastoral counseling from Brite Divinity School at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, TX, the M.Div. and M.S. in community counseling from Mercer University, Atlanta, GA, and the B.A. in religious studies and psychology from Gardner-Webb University, Boiling Springs, NC. 

His teaching and research interests include LGBTQIA concerns in pastoral care and counseling, narrative and postmodern approaches to care and counseling, pastoral praxis and theologies of embodiment in relation to death, and power and oppression in relation to the embodiment of human difference.

Cody is the coauthor of Microaggressions in Ministry: Confronting the Hidden Violence of Everyday Church (Westminster John Knox, 2015), author of Queer Lessons for Churches on the Straight and Narrow: What All Christians Can Learn from LGBTQ Lives (FaithLab, 2013), and editor of the second edition of Rightly Diving the Word of Truth: A Resource for Congregations on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (Baptist Peace Fellowship of North America, 2013). He is currently working on a book manuscript forthcoming from Westminster John Knox on ministry with LGBTQIA youth and is a monthly opinion columnist for Baptist News Global
