Student Involvement

There are a wide range of opportunities for ministry and service here at Bethany. Preaching at least once a month will be available as well as other service during the worship time from planning to leading worship. If the student so desires, and their talents allow, singing in the choir from time to time as well as playing a musical instrument. The Congregation presently hold a service at a local nursing home once a month as well as other community outreach possibilities. Both the Sunday School and the Youth Group are undergoing reconfiguration so there will be opportunity to help us rebuild both of these programs from the ground up as well as working to establish a young adult group in the community. The Associate Pastor holds a weekly bible study twice a week and there would be opportunity to plan and lead a bible study for adults in the church. The Senior pastor visits the sick and shut ins and there would be ample opportunity to travel with him on his visitation rounds to homes as well as the hospital and area nursing homes. The Congregation also assists in a local homeless shelter providing meals and assistance is always welcome. In the Fall of 2016 Bethany will take ownership of a pre-school licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Commitment to Educating Ministers

There has been a desire here that Bethany becomes a teaching site and gives back to the wider mission of the church by aiding in the education and support of new minsters. Allowing adequate pulpit time to gain experience as well as experience in all aspects of the local church. The ministerial staff are very hands on and have a combined experience of more than 50 years in the ministry. Bethany is one of the oldest Congregational Churches in Massachusetts and has long been a voice for justice issues not only here in Massachusetts but in the United States. We envision a minister-in-training as being a vital in integral part of the ministry team here at Bethany.
