Site Description

We are a faith community of 286 members. Our average attendance is around 100 on a Sunday morning. We are a part of the United Church of Christ and are an open and affirming church. Our membership is made up of a wide variety of income, professions and ethnicity. We have a number of “blue collar” workers as well as a number of doctors, lawyers and one Maine Supreme Court Judge. We have served a number of the African refugees that are being settled in Portland and have just had a new family attend who left Rwanda. The father was a lawyer there and is now studying for the Maine Bar Exam. The majority of our members are over 50 but the number of younger families is starting to grow again. There are a lot of teenagers in the community but not many are attending here at the present time. We are hoping that our new C.E. Coordinator will help change that! Currently our Kid’s Church has an average of ten to twelve children. Falmouth, ME is a community of 11,185 according to the 2010 census. In the ten- year period between 2000 and 2010 the population had increased by 8.5%. I would classify Falmouth as a suburban/rural community. Ethnically the community is made up of 94.5% white, 2.2% Asian, 1.3% Hispanic, Mixed race 1.2%, Black 0.5%, American Indian 0.2%, and other race 0.1%. Falmouth covers 29.6 square miles with a population density of 378 per square mile. The nearest city with a population of 50,000+ is Portland, 2.2 miles away, with 64,249.
