Don’t Miss the Celebration of the Beloved Community

Friday, May 11, from 1:30-4:30 p.m.

Pre-celebration gathering to greet friends at Trask with sandwiches (at cost) at noon (pre-register by May 8)

On the Quad or in case of rain Noyes Hall.

It is our hope that we have good weather so that we can hold our event outside and accommodate in an optimal way all who wish to attend. Should inclement weather hit, we will have to have some people watch the program via livestream from the Trask Building. We can only accommodate 250 people in Noyes Hall, which we have already reached in registrations. In the event of rainy weather, people will be seated in Noyes until it fills and then we will have to ask people to go to the Trask Building for the livestream.

For those wishing to join the pick-up choir, please join Burns Stanfield at 12:30 p.m. at Noyes Hall for rehearsal.

Personal Letter from co-chairs and committee

Dear Members of the Beloved Community,

Don’t miss this moment in our life together. As Andover Newton makes the transition in the life of our school from “the Hill” to Yale Divinity School, it matters to celebrate the beloved community Andover Newton has always been, is, and will be in the future. We invite you to:

  • Come and be with those who have shared and shaped your life.
  • Come and give thanks to and honor all who have knit this incredible community together over time and who have contributed so significantly to this institution.
  • Come and recall together the heart of Andover Newton’s mission, how we have embodied it in the past and will embody it in new ways in our future.
  • Come and worship as we celebrate with gratitude our past, acknowledge the challenge and grief of loss, and offer prayers of hope and vision for the new future of Andover Newton.

We’ll remember and honor all the constituencies who have shaped Andover Newton over the years:

  • Students and alumni/ae
  • Staff
  • Faculty, adjunct faculty
  • Administration
  • Trustees
  • Field education supervisors, mentors and teaching parishes
  • Volunteers and special programs

In other words, YOU!

Register now! See you on May 11 on the Hill.

With warm greetings,

Davida Foy Crabtree and Brita Gill-Austern, co-chairs

Planning Committee: Nayda Aguila, Susan Suchocki-Brown, Diane Nicholls, and Roberto Ochoa

A Note About Construction

Those of you will be coming to campus in the next several weeks will notice as you come up Herrick Road that there is a good deal of construction going on in and around Farwell Hall. This work is not being done by the new owner of the campus. Rather, it is part of a construction project by Benchmark Senior Living for a memory care unit that will be built there. This project predates the sale of the campus. The new owner has not yet announced plans for any work on the campus, except to reiterate that it will be used for educational purposes.
