“Light and Dark” – Laura Kisthardt

Every time I walk through East Rock Park in New Haven I am reminded of the divine natural beauty around me.

One particular day, I was struck by the stark contrast between the light and dark as the sun was setting. I watched the darkness increase in the woods. The trees, like a basket, collected the rays of the descending orb. The light shining on the rocks turned them from red to orange, and the rocks became a pallete.

The sky both brightened and dimmed as shimmering shadows shifted.

I invite you to reflect today on one way you can tune into the natural message of "Already and not yet."

Laura Kisthardt is an Andover Newton Seminary and Yale Divinity School MDiv student, and she was the coordinator for the student-led retreat in mid-February.
