Site Description

North Springfield Baptist is a small, rural congregation on the main street of a village in the corner of the city of Springfield, Vermont. Our average attendance on a Sunday morning is around 50 people. We have ministries to seniors in the community, a small youth group, and a one-room style Sunday School for elementary age children. Our congregation is active in community activities in cooperation with other area churches and hosts a warming shelter during the winter months. Many area churches and social service agencies work together to manage and operate the warming shelter. We also work together to provide free community meals, staff the local food shelf on weekends, and provide community worship services at the Springfield Health and Rehab, the Adult Day Services Center, and the Southern State Correctional Facility.

Stipend Expectation

This site meets the stipend expectation

Student Involvement

Students are welcome to participate in all areas of our ministries depending on their desires to learn and gain experience in the different ministries. We offer the opportunity to preach once a month, to lead worship in contemporary, traditional, and senior care settings, to lead in youth and/or adult ministries, to participate in visitations, and to participate in community outreach in cooperation with other congregations in the Springfield area.

Commitment to Educating Ministers

Our congregation has many members who have been involved in education and leadership positions in our community and who are eager to share their experiences and support and encourage new church leaders. We try to have a variety of ages represented on the Teaching Church Committee with youth, young adults, middle aged adults and seniors on the committee.

Special Considerations

We are located about 2 hours and 40 minutes from the ANTS campus and about 1 hour north of Greenfield, MA. The exit on Route 91 for Springfield, Vermont is at mile marker 41, about half way between Brattleboro and White River Junction. The pastor is half-time and is usually at the church from Wednesday through Sunday. Members of the congregation have offered to allow students to stay over in their homes if they plan to stay over on the weekend.

We typically provide the stipend in monthly installments of $375 at the end of each month for 8 months, from September through April.
