Worship, Theology and the Arts: Master of Arts - What Is The Program Like?

What Is The Program Like?
The program takes
at least four semesters of regular study, and at least one summer session of Andover
Newton's Institute for Theology and the Arts (a total of 48 credits).
Close, supportive supervision by faculty members, many of whom are practicing artist-theologians, is provided throughout the course of study. Course requirements include:
- a foundation core of biblical, history, theology and ethics;
- a sequence of special integrative courses in theology and arts;
- a concentration in an area such as Arts and Education, Arts and Worship, Theology, Ethics and the Arts, Sacred Arts, or another approved area.
You will also design an internship or practicum in which you gain practical experience in using the arts in a particular ministry or setting.
A final integrative project is also required.

You can specialize in one of the following four areas:
- Arts and Education
- Worship and the Arts
- Theology, Art, and Public Life (including ethics)
- Sacred Arts (history and praxi)
