Site Description

Trinitarian Congregational Church (UCC), in the center of historic Concord, is a vibrant community of faith. Although valuing tradition and honoring history, this 175 year old church of 700 active members is deeply committed to a ministry and mission which are vital and dynamic, inspiring and engaging. Known for its strong worship, its exceptional mission commitment, and its thriving church school and program for youth, Trinitarian Congregational Church is defined by an active laity of varied educational and professional backgrounds who also serve the larger community in a host of ways. Drawing its parishioners from a diversity of religious traditions in Concord, Carlisle, and adjacent communities, this suburban church provides a spiritual home for people of all ages. Its recent substantial capital improvement project along with the implementation of a new strategic plan provide enhanced opportunities for church growth, the development of small group ministries, a renewed focus on spiritual development, and the pursuit of new models of ministry and creative program initiatives suitable for the new millennium.

Student Involvement

Where will your gifts and interests and emerging calling take you? For the student seeking a parish ministry growth experience, developing individual gifts, growing in faith, and being encouraged by a caring community, TriCon Church provides a rich, varied, stimulating, and supportive setting. We will encourage the student to contribute in creative ways to making a difference in the ministry and mission of the church. It is expected that an intern serving our faith community 15 hours a week will be exposed to a broad range of pastoral ministry experiences at the same time as taking responsibility for some targeted projects developed cooperatively by the intern and supervisor. This would certainly include opportunities to preach at Sunday worship, to participate in offering adult education, and to interact with children and youth. S/he will interact with the staff, both lay and ordained, volunteer and paid, as well as numerous boards and committees. Interest in the wider Church, ecumenical efforts, and interfaith activities will be encouraged to the degree of the student's interest. The supervising minister and four-member Parish Teaching Committee will offer dedicated support to the seminarian and as frequent contact as is needed or desired.

Commitment to Educating Ministers

Learning Agreements are designed to support both the needs and interests of the Seminarian as well as the needs of the church. Tricon's ordained ministers contribute to the mentoring of seminarians, are certified supervisors (or in training) and have a strong personal interest in seeing that seminarians find their time here to be both rewarding and transformative. The lay members of the active Teaching Parish Committee work closely with students and ministers to provide continuing guidance and encouragement.

Special Considerations

Please visit our website at www.triconchurch.orgConcord, Mass is located fifteen miles west/northwest of Boston and is an easy commute from Newton and downtown Boston. Commuting by car is the optimal arrangement. While commuter rail service connects near the church in Concord it can be challenging to conform the ministry hours to the commuter rail hours.
